The Chapel at Ronchamps designed by Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier was one of the leading theorists of the modernist movement in architecture. His designs prior to this had been rectilinear in the extreme. When he designed and built this building it was like exploding a grenade in the academies. Pure plastic form expressing the symbolism required in a Church.

The exterior was being renovated when we were there.
